If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items
from the Second World War, please do not destroy them. A museum will
give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes.
They will always by returned if you wish to have them back.
Last week a elderly member of the Seething tower Association (who wishes
to remain anonymous) Sent a letter to the treasurer, together with a cheque for
one thousand pounds. He expressed that he wished the money to be held for the
future upkeep and maintenance of the 448th Bomb Group memorial that stands next
to the control tower... In 2007 we received well over two thousand pounds in
donations from Veterans, and their descendants in the USA. Mr Jim Turner our
membership secretary, who works with indefatigable energy, managing and mailing
our newsletters, tells me that the membership of veterans who have passed on is
being taken over by their family line.......Why? I believe the answer is
communication. These kind and generous people know that we are dedicated to our
aims, and will go on with our work. they know because Jims newsletters, websites
and emails tell them we are still alive and active.
The point that I wish to make to all members is this.... Use your web space, and
update your websites. many sites that I visit are old, some are no longer
active, very few are updated. This gives one the impression that no one cares
anymore, and communication is lost. No one returns to a dead site. We must not
let this go on... Please, please, I ask you all....Use your free web space,
build your website, It is a easy thing to do and you will .... " Help the old to
remember, and the young to understand." yours faithfully silvertop
